Tailored Takes, Met Gala 2025

What do you get when In the News takes over the whole episode? A little disorganized perfection — and honestly, we wouldn't have it any other way.

This week on Wisdom from the Wardrobe, Lady P’s plan was promptly disregarded like fast fashion from last season, while the 2025 Met Gala pulled at our heartstrings, our style senses, and our deep appreciation for drama done right. With the theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” and the dress code “Tailored for You,” we perused the blue carpet with awe, admiration, and a little side-eye — and we are absolutely here for every bead, button, and bespoke moment.

We break down the best, boldest, and most unforgettable looks (and a few that left us asking, “but why though?”). Let’s talk highlights:

  • Shaboozey made his Met Gala debut in a turquoise wave-patterned suit, turquoise grillz, and a dramatically tilted wide-brim hat, basically declaring, “I own this carpet.” Message received.

  • Lauryn Hill stunned in a Jude Dontoh ensemble that included a cape, umbrella, and drama-worthy collar. The entire look whispered sophistication and shouted presence.

  • Demi Moore redefined black tie in a beaded showstopper that was—quite literally—a necktie. It was fashion pun intended and flawlessly executed.

  • Colman Domingo gave us full regal fantasy in Valentino and Boucheron, layered with sequins and more texture than a high-end fabric swatch book. Royalty. Period.

From sharp tailoring to cultural storytelling stitched into every seam, this year’s Met Gala was as thoughtful as it was theatrical. And yes, we name names, throw in a few cheeky comments, and celebrate the artists, designers, and muses who made this carpet feel meaningful — not just fashionable.

We also wander into sidebars (as we do), from the psychology of personal style to why tailoring might just be the ultimate act of self-expression. And somewhere in there, we may or may not try to plan our imaginary Met Gala looks. Spoiler: expect sequins. Lots of them.

So, if you love a none-too-serious Met Gala recap served with a side of sass, smarts, and tailored suit talk, this episode is custom-made for you. Expect fashion fun, unfiltered opinions, and your weekly dose of style talk with the Wisdom from the Wardrobe crew.

Because sometimes the best-dressed people are also the most fun to listen to.
Happy listening!
